d:class Awards 2023

Harry Pitcher • January 4, 2024

We at d:class hold an annual awards ceremony shortly before Christmas, where team members can cast their votes for each other in several categories. We do this to show recognition of the hard work the team put in all year round. We also sit down and watch a round-up of funny images and clips throughout the year, plus we exchange our Secret Santa gifts.

We would like to thank everyone who follows us across social media, our customers,

new and old, and of course, our team. Here's to 2024!

This award is one that David picks out for himself. It is for someone who regularly goes the extra mile. Martyn also helped secure a very high-profile job for d:class during our time at SEMA. However, we're unable to go into details on that just yet... Thank you, Martyn!

Congratulations to Ashish for winning the Fellow d:class worker of the year award. This award, and the others following on, are all voted for by all of our team. Ashish joined d:class in 2021 and has only excelled his trimming skills and performance. A well-deserved recipient of this award. Thank you, Ashish.

He's back again! Ashish winning the Hardest Worker Award. It is understandable when at any given time, Ashish has his head down and gets the job done. We are grateful for all his hard work. Thank you, Ashish.

Congratulations to Gael for being awarded the Most Dedicated Worker award for his consistent dedication to d:class. Always in early and always willing to earn some overtime in the evenings. Thank you Gael for being our most dedicated worker of 2023!

This year's Most Impressive Job award has a rather alternative result, not for who has won it, but rather what. David took a trip earlier this year to a little country called Turkey, and it must have been the lovely weather, because he came back with a rather impressive new hairline. Congratulations David, Job of the year!

Most Detailed Worker is awarded to Laurence for his unmatched level of detail in his work. Laurence trims the majority of our steering wheels, so if you follow our social media accounts, you'll recognise some of his detailed hand stitching. Fantastic work Laurence; thank you!

This year's Most Enjoyable Worker has been awarded to Martyn, for his humour, which doesn't appear to have any downtime. Martyn always manages to keep everyone in good spirits, and always keeps morale at a high. Thank you, Martyn!

He's only gone and bagged himself a third award! Ashish returning with Most Improved Worker of the Year. Since Ashish joined in 2021, he has been awarded Most Improved each year, and as he continues to expand on his trimming portfolio, we look forward to where his talents sore to.

Congratulations to this year's Most Helpful Worker, John, for always catering for the trimmers in the workshop. Making sure we have the correct material ordered and ready for when the team requires it. Also for running our new online store where we sell our threads, materials, and parts. Thank you, John.

Now for something, a little tongue in cheek. We added a new award to this year's list, which we left open to interpretation. We got some very odd responses which lead to a three-way tie for Hottest In The Office. The winners are David, Ashish, and the Radiator....

This Ferrari 488 GTB came to d:class for a steering wheel retrim, despite only showing light signs of wear. Having recently changed hands, the new owner wanted the car to feel completely their own. Starting with the one part you touch every time you drive. A fresh wheel makes all the difference, complemented by the installation of new steering wheel buttons to complete that factory-fresh finish.

This Porsche 911 Turbo S came to d:class for a partial seat and door card retrim. The customer wanted a band of grey Alcantara flowing around the seat base and back, matched as closely as possible to the car’s exterior colour. We were also tasked with recreating the debossed ‘Turbo S’ as an embroidered logo. Finally, the door card centres were retrimmed in matching grey Alcantara, complete with OEM-style stitch lines. Not a huge job, but a well-executed and highly effective OEM-like upgrade.

This is the second Porsche 918 Spyder to come through d:class for a steering wheel retrim. The reason for this one, however, is a little unusual. The previous owner chose to cut corners by hand-painting the racing band orange... hardly the right approach on any car, let alone one of this calibre. From factory, this 918 Spyder featured a distinctive neon green racing band, designed to tie in with other signature details across the car, such as the rev needle, rear badging, and brake calipers. Naturally, the new owner wanted this put right, and the car was promptly brought to us for a wheel retrim.
